They should also recognise
the importance of current density for cables,
conductor cross-sections,
heating and the safe design of electrical installations.
Requirements
For this submodule, learners should have basic knowledge of
electrical quantities.
These include in particular current,
voltage, resistance, conductor cross-section and
simple formula transformations.
It is also helpful to have a basic understanding that
electrical conductors can heat up under load and
that the conductor cross-section affects the current-carrying capacity.
